Enrolment Scheme

Our current enrolment scheme allows up to 50 out of zone new entrants access to College Street Normal School each year. At this stage of the year, our school roll is sitting higher than ever. As a result, the Board have made a decision to close off our out of zone new entrant intakes until the end of the year. We will still take new entrants who are out of zone and have siblings currently attending College Street Normal School.

National Standards

Included in this weeks Wednesday News is an information sheet for parents about the National Standards. A new report format has been developed to align us with the requirements of the National Standards. An example of this new report template can be viewed in the office foyer. The teachers are currently in the beginning stages of writing all children's reports ready to share with you early in term three. We have also made changes to our interview process that will allow us to further develop the effectiveness of our reporting. More information to come about this process.

Hall/Auditorium Opening

The hall/auditorium complex is in full swing and it is exciting to look out there and see the progress. We have decided to open the complex next Thursday 10th June for half an hour from 2.30-3.00pm so that we can all go in and have a look at what has been happening, and see the potential this complex has for our school community. If you would like to have a look around please contact the office to register your name prior to Thursday. (for Health & Safety regulations).

Community Engagement

Yes, we are moving into the 21st century! We have just purchased a digital monitor for our office foyer. This tool has a lot of potential to enhance communication with parents in a range of different forms. It will be used to share children’s learning, photos of school events, advertise up and coming events, share minutes from meetings ie: strategic planning meetings and so on. Keep an eye out!

We have also just ordered a covered noticeboard that will go outside room 9 to keep our school community informed.

Our next Strategic Planning Meeting will be held next Wednesday 9th June at 3.15pm.

Another meeting has also been scheduled for Term Three August 4th 3.15pm. This meeting will be around the Principle from the New Zealand Curriculum ‘The Treaty of Waitangi’.
