From the Principal

Penny Fletcher

Penny Fletcher: Many parents will be aware that one of our mothers Penny Fletcher was last year struck down with Meningitis. Against all odds and after having both her legs amputated below the knee and some of her fingers amputated, Penny survived.

Unfortunately for Penny her battles are by no means over. She is determined to be independent and to live as normal a life as possible, but to achieve this she needs financial assistance to make her house wheelchair friendly and to cover ongoing medical costs. Penny’s disability is not covered by ACC.

C.S.N.S. parents are invited to join with the staff in making a donation to Penny and her children. Contributions can be made at the Office.

Principal's Return

After two days it’s almost as though I haven’t been away. Having said that though it’s great to be warmly welcomed back into what is a very special environment. Sometimes when you’re close to the action it’s difficult to appreciate the real worth of what you’re involved in. It took some ‘time out’, visits to many schools in both NZ and Australia and a walk through the classrooms on Monday with six student teachers for me to very quickly confirm what a wonderful school we have. The standard of teaching at C.S.N.S. is very definitely of the highest quality. We must never take it for granted!

A very special thank you to the Senior Staff and Corinne Walsh in particular for ‘stepping up’ and leading the school so capably during my absence. Corinne leaves today for Vancouver Canada where she will attend an intensive numeracy professional development course with world numeracy teaching authority Dr Anne Davies. A well deserved ‘break’ for Corinne!
